Jimbo

Post by NLindsey921 » Thu Oct 27, 2016 1:02 pm

I think my big guy jimbo went under for a molt. I haven't seen him for a few days not even at night. The tank looks bigger with him not there. All my hides are too small for his very large shell but hoping he switches when he comes up.

Maybe you can "surprise" him with a few new larger hides for him when he comes up! That's the fun of molters: while they do their thing underground, we can do ours aboveground, adding, subtracting, rearranging -- my crabs always seem to enjoy having a slightly different layout to explore when they come up.

Yeah. I could do that. I just need to find something big enough for him that will fit in the tank. He seems to be able to fit in the hides that I do have I just have no clue how he gets in there. He wears an apple murex shell and it is very long.

Just a quick update he is still down with no signs that he's been up anytime recently. Not worrying yet though. Just gonna let him do what he do.

Yep. He's the biggest of my bunch. He knows what he's doing. His first molt with me though.

Good news. Got in tonight and went to check on my tank an jimbo is up and about. I bet it was him who's been digging those giant holes in the tank.

Still haven't had a chance to check and see if he actually molted but he does look darker than I remember

Long black nails and hairy legs. I would say that he has molted. Now I just need to get a picture

Yay, Jimbo! Regardless of the number of successful molts a crab has had, it's still always a major relief when they come up all pointy and hairy and limbs intact.

He's still up and about so I will say this is a successful molt. Nobody has tried to eat him or anything. Now if only I can get him to change out of his murex and into a beautiful turbo.
