Post molt questions

Post by Kkayp1961 » Thu Dec 08, 2016 11:34 pm

So Bling finally surfaced and 24 hours later Sneaker dug under. Is it normal for one yo stay top side until one of the others finishing molting?

Bling has been very active post-molt and eats like a pig. I resently noticed what I thought were small worms in the food dish and I'll be honest I kind of freaked out. After a google search I realized it was poop but then I started wondering why it has taken me 3 months to notice it. So I was wondering when hermits are preparing to molt do they stop pooping?

It can be hard to see their poo on the substrate because it blends in with the cocofiber and sand. They poop all the time, trust. lol. But I wouldn't worry about the surfaced one, they all have different molt schedules and such. Some people's crabs molt all at once, others not so much. Mine tend to go down at different times. I think it depends on the individual crab.

Mine took shifts once. One guy would go down then another would go down after he came up. The 3rd time they all went down within 36 hours of each other. Its up to the crab.
I too never noticed poop until I could properly identify it. Now i see it all the time. My guys poop like someone is paying them by the load.
