I can't believe it

Ok all of my crabs came up from a group molt last week. I went out of town for 3 days and when j came back I figured it was time to do a deep clean and get out all the gunk and old food my Es burry. I found a good pile of old food and plastic bits they tore off.

But when I was moving stuff around and getting food bits out I ran into one of my Es. They dig like 50% of the time so I wasn't surprised. But he was bigger and his color was different! And then I found the claw tips of his old exo. He molted in 3 days after having just come up from a huge molt and having a shell change!!

I felt so bad for digging him up! Has anyone else had their crabs molt in 3 days right after a big long molt? It seems weird.

Anyways his exo was all rehardened and his old exo was just about gone. So I bathed him and put in a protein and calcium heavy dinner with honey.

I think he will be okay without ISO but has anyone else had this before? My crabs have never molted that fast. And k definitely saw him the night before I left. ImageImage

It looks like he molted, but then went back down to chill for a day or two. Mine have done this before, they will go up and down for a few days, almost as if they are getting used to being above ground again. He probably went back to see if there was any pieces he wanted to keep munching on :) It takes them longer than 3 days to molt and fully harden, so I doubt he molted again. Probably just giving you a scare!

I have had them go back down before but they never went deep enough to go back to their exo. They still amaze me

Yes, mine sometimes fuss about in the dirt before or after a molt. It doesn't usually seem like back-to-back molts, just fussing around.
