I bought 2 new hermit crabs about 5 weeks ago. The one is the smallest I’ve ever owned, he could sit at the tip of my thumb. Well they both did fine, both went down to molt and the larger one was successful and is doing great. The small one, he was way deep in the substrate for about 3 weeks. Today, I noticed a crab leg on the surface that had to have been from him it was so small. I looked around and ran my fingers over the substrate until I Noticed his shell poking out. I picked him up VERY carefully and another leg fell off, and his big puncher was also right near him. I know that he was way deep in the 8in of substrate for the whole time until today. How could he have made it to the top and then this happened? I carefully isolated him with his fallen limbs. He doesn’t smell (yet), but this did just happen today.
What does everyone think happened? My usually aggressive baseball-sized crab is hurried and molting, and the other one isn’t aggressive at all, that I can tell. Thanks!! I hope he’s still alive in there!!

Hii
it would be super helpful if you could fill out the emergency template so we can help you to figure out what is going on.
My first thought is uneaten exo could be mistaken for crab limbs, are you positive they are limbs and your tiny hermie isn’t hiding deep inside the shell?
