No Crabs Up!!

My crabs went down to molt sometime this summer. When I left in May, there was 1 crab up, due for a molt. I returned in August and there were still no crabs up. I’m not sure if I should dig and check on them, or if I should leave it alone.

They could be down for 4 months, possibly longer. Don't dig.

Your crabbies may be coming up at night while you're sleeping and digging back down before you get up. So you might think they've been under for months, but that may not be the case. Definitely don't dig. I only have one crab up at the moment. My other 3 have been mia for a bit.

How long have your crab(s) been under? I had my quarter sized crab under for almost 2 months when I first rescued her.

two for 1.5 months, 1 for 2 months. I had a dream last night where I only found 2 and they escaped and they were extremely lethargic. I really hope this doesn't mean anything, but my dreams about these type of things usually come true to an extent (that became off topic very fast)

I have very vivid dreams also, so I can understand your worry. When a loved one or animal has passed, they tend to visit me in my dreams. It seems the consensus around here though is not to worry at least until the 4 month mark, and even longer if the crab is larger. That's always easier said than done for sure though.

Two came up, and one is still down. If he does come up, it will be the longest molt he has ever had. I still have hope though

No, but I had two others come up and they molted after him. I just have that feeling if you know what I mean. I really hope he is just taking his time, but that would mean he would have a three month molt.
If he did die, that would mean I had two crabs die of a molting issue. I have 9 inches of substrate and correct substrate overall, so I can't figure out why they keey dying.
