I have 3 hermit crabs. The biggest is Thunder, and then Ruby and Blue are about the same size. About a week ago, Thunder went under, I assumed he was molting since it’s past when he should have. His molting pile was in easy view and was pretty big. Yesterday it was gone but he’s no where else in the tank. Is it possible for him to be under there safely without a pile? It looks flat like it never was there.
Now Ruby and Blue, as of yesterday have the exact same shell. Because of that, i can’t tell who might be under. Today i went to check on them and the top of the shell is up but the rest of them is buried. What would that be? I assume not molting because they’re not all the way under. Why would they do that?
I have had my hermit crabs for almost a year now. Thunder has had one successful molt and Ruby and Blue each had two. This is their first molt in a new tank, but would that really be the problem?
Thank you everyone and I hope they are both okay!

I'd just leave them alone. It's also likely the shell you see isn't the on the crab is wearing.

Good point, I’m a bit worried that the crab has no shell if they’re not wearing that one. I looked in the shell shop and nothing seems to be missing but I do have like 30 shells so I wouldn’t notice. Hopefully they are fine.FJrocks003 wrote:I'd just leave them alone. It's also likely the shell you see isn't the on the crab is wearing.
