hermit crab molting under water bowls!!

help please! my crab, Herbert, has just begun a molt (maybe? he might just be chilling but he has been giving pre molt signs), but unfortunately he decided to molt right under his water bowl. I cannot lift up the water without disturbing his molt and it really needs to be changed!!! what do I do???? Please help me!! This is the first molt I’ve experienced and I’m super nervous!!!

Can you put something over the hole once you lift the water dish? Like a small plate or an opaque food container lid? That would support the cavern and let you move the bowl

Thank you, that’s an amazing idea! I hope it’ll work bc it’s a really shallow hole he has made. I’m worried because when my other hermit drinks water spills onto the cavern!! Any advice?

Probably a non-issue, it’s unlikely there’d be enough to wash out the cavern

Thank you so much! There was a good amount of water that spilled onto her but I think she’s okay!
