Strawberry Crab Molting?

Post by Guest » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:00 am

After a strawberry crab molts is it normal for them to be a light pink colour / almost white? I thought that they would be close to their red colour after molting.

Another question is, is it normal for strawberry crabs to do surface molts?I have had 3 in the past week do them.

I am a :newb: to crabbing and just learning everything there is to know about my new pets.

I think i covered this on your other thread but.. they will start to regain the color as they eat the exo and finish the metecdysis or post molt where the exo goes through the calcification. depending on the health and feeding of the crab prior to the molt the crab will regain the coloring. No its not normal for them to surface molt but unfortunately you were sold the sand with the calcium infused into it.. :( when you have new good substrate i dont think you will have that problem any longer. best of luck to you!
