yellow inside changed shell?

Hi! Just brought home some hermies from the beach. One of them was obviously too big for his shell. He changed shells last night. The old shell is yellow and kind of oily inside. Is this normal?

If they were kept on calcium sand before you got hem perhaps it's a remain? Seems odd to be honest...

Hi! He was in one of those hardware cloth and wood cages they have at the beach, no substrate.
It has dried by now and seems like it may just be the color of the shell? Have not seen one like this before. What do you think?

Yes. They do wear them, but they much prefer silver mouth. I do have some pearled gold mouths that they love. I honestly think the only reason they aren't a fave is that they are so much heavier than other turbos.

Hahaha same think happened to a coworker. They ordered me some hermit supplies and i specifically asked for nonpainted shells. They thought the gold was painted too. My bigger crabs seems to like the gold turbos tho.
