Unknown Fossil-like Shell

Post by hermiwormi » Fri Jun 01, 2018 1:39 pm

I mentioned recently that my crabs had all changed into turbos, except my teeny tiny crab, Siam(See•Ahm) He changed into one of the tiny shells that I said looked like a fossil. I've been calling them "ancient turbos" Haha Image Does anyone know what these shells are?
(My apologies for the bad pictures of Siam, it's hard to take pictures of a very fast crab)ImageImageImageImage

That's why I found it a bit strange that Siam went into it! He changed between three of the fossil-like shells and then switched back to the first one. He prefers these shells over the small turbos and murex shells in the crabitat

It's a delphinium. It is extremely rare for a hermit to even try one on, because the inside does not allow for normal abdonminal spiraling! The shells are too skinny and too straight when compared to a normal seashell.

Thank you Image That's so strange. Should I be concerned about Siam in the shell, or not?

Is this one of those? This shell seems to be too heavy for him because he keeps falling backwards.Image

That is a silver mouth turbo, not the most popular because of the weight, but some smaller crabs still wear them!

I have a crab who wears a gold mouth turbo.
My shell shop only contains shells from the popular list, except for a few magpie pica.
