I boiled my shells to clean them and some of them had white spots. They werent there before. Can anyone tell me what they are??

15 year old that loves pets. My mom wont let me get a fourth crab tho cuz apparently her house would be a zoo and Rock, Pebbles, and Boulder are enough.

Did you boil in saltwater or fresh water? It might just be spots from being boiled, I’m not 100% sure though. I know I’ve boiled some of mine in saltwater and it made them dull and hazy. I use freshwater to boil and then dip in saltwater now.

I think it’s just heat spots from being boiled. As long as it didn’t cause an actual hole in the shell, it’s ok. Probably just from the heat causing some discoloration.Pebbles wrote:

Oh ok. I thought it actually had varnish or something and it was peeling off. Haha. I just ahd to make sure before i toss them out. Thanks
