Turbo Cornutus

We just received these from a vendor in Indonesia! I could not find any vendors in the US that carry these. If I was a crab these would be the shells I would wear to express my inner punk/metal crabbiness! I love the spikes on them! Hopefully the crabs love them too!

The openings are between 32-38mm. Right around 1-1/4 and 1-3/8 openings. The openings are very similar shape and size to other turbo types. We just put them in our tank so hopefully they will decide to try them out tonight.

Pretty sizable.

Since they similar to other turbos, I could imagine some crabs being interested in the shells. Some spiked shells can 'alter' the inside of the shell, which I wonder if it makes it slightly less desirable for the crabs.

I thought the same thing. From what I could tell the spikes on these didn't altar the inside of the shells. They appear to still be smooth on the inside.

I'm pretty sure these are the same as some of the common polished turbos, just in their natural form. People enjoy them more with that green layer shining! I think they are cool with the spikes, though maneuverability is limited for the hermits.
