Use Shells From Seafood?
Use Shells From Seafood?
I went to a seafood restaurant and decided to use the shells from the snails I ate for my hermit crabs. Is that okay? I cleaned and boiled the shells before I gave them to my hermits and they really seem to like them. I'm not really sure what species the shells are from, though. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll show you what they look like.

As long as you cleaned them they'll be safe for your crabs.

Oh, okay. Is there a specific way I should clean them?

You can just boil them in water or water with sea salt, your choice.

If they are escargot shells, the crabs may very well check them out. More people are offering them these days and they seem to be rather popular.
