I purchased this shell not realizing how big it actually was. My guestimations were way off. I have thought about donating it to a pet store but wanted to see if anyone here needed it. I know bigger shells start getting pricy.

Your hermit crab is going to grow. Hold onto it :)

It's a freshwater apple snail shell, crabs don't really care for these much except them they are young and tiny and willing to wear anything. I would recommend enjoying it as a decoration!

I actually buy most of my crabs wearing this type of shell.
My Ecuadorian actually chose this shell when I had him. I bought two E’s, and both of them came in one of these shells.

If the shells were painted, they were forced into them.

E's that come in natural shells typically come in nerites.

E's prefer nerites (small E's), babylon, turbos, and other oval shaped shell openings. If they are already modified, they're a hot commodity!

My E's have grown from being in 1/2" openings or smaller to 1.25" land fairy snail shells and turbos.

Yep, they indeed were painted. I hated them.
I did get one to change into an unpainted one though.

I am striving to get my new E's in the nerite shells, I love those little things.

My aussies love these type of shells, which annoys me since they also love to snack on the extras resulting in 'chew marks'.

Ahhh see I guess I'm not as good with shells as I thought. How can you tell the difference?
