HCA: Hermit Crab Association

okay so im not sure how or why it happened but leonardo's shell is broken along one edge. its kind of sharp and jagged now so im not sure if its safe for him. is this ok/how can i encourage him to swap shells if not?

Can you share a photo? Is it along the top lip? They can physically alter their shell to make room for their eyes and legs!
