HCA: Hermit Crab Association

i recently saw my crab switch shells. but in the night, he switched to a smaller shell, then an even smaller one! he is too big for the shell he switched into, but the others are all perfect for him! they have no cracks or holes, are clean, and fit him perfectly. plz help! he will get stuck if he keeps going to small shells, and i dont want a shell fight with my smallest crab, which seems to have the shell that is perfect for salsa. what can I do? should i get more shells? if so, should they be bigger or smaller than his current one? i am offically confused by my crabs.

He may just like the feel. If there’s a variety of shells for everyone it won’t be an issue.

My E, Eddie does that. There are plenty of larger shells, but he always picks ones that look too small.

Same here.

My crab switched shells 3 times only to switch back into his old original one that I felt was to small. All in all each crab will find the perfect one for them, weather room or weight or design.
