I've fed avocado quite a bit. I've seen them eat it and I haven't noticed any problems.

It isn't the avocado so much as the SKIN of the avocado that is toxic. Sadly I learned that the hard way.

WHat about the mushrooms? I have regular white mushrooms

. Can they really eat those, or is it a specific type of mushroDoes anyone feed them mushrooms.

I have fed them dried portabella mushrooms and they seemed to enjoy them! Not sure about reg mushrooms though.

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the research Jedi Master Thrash, I really do appreciate it. I think I'll stay away from Rosemary all together, as to not risk harm to my hermies in any way.

A couple of things I saw that other people wrote and have a question on. One is mushrooms. Did anyone find out if the regular mushrooms are okay to feed the hermies? Also, if you cut the avocado in half with the skin on it or in pieces does that mean that the rest of the avocado is poisonous from cutting through the skin?

I have three more question for you guys, is yellow cornmeal good for hermies? Also, is frozen food okay for them to have? My third question is, is butternut and orange acorn squash okay for them to have?

I feel really stupid asking all these questions, I just don't like playing with little lives and I feel like I am when I "just try" some of these things....

I have fed my crabs butternut squash, yellow squash, zucchini, and pumpkin (also members of the squash family) with no problems. They like regular mushrooms, too, cooked or raw, but seem to prefer the cooked ones.

I feed my crabs organic bread made from whole, sprouted grains, containing no flour, sugar, salt, or preservatives. There are not many on the market, and they are expensive, but taste quite good--that is, if you've managed to wean yourself off of bland, processed white and wheat breads. The one I bought is by Foods for Life and has a Bible verse prominently displayed on the packaging. I still only give them bread as an occasional treat, as I think they're better off with whole, raw foods, but I feel better knowing there are fewer toxins in it.

I haven't found anything on this site after searching and looking through the lists about liverwurst. I see that regular liver is okay, would liverwurst be okay then too? *doesn't know the difference*

check the ingredients. I'm thinking no. It's has more than just pork liver in it. There are many kinds of spices and things too.

Thanks Callalily, I won't feed it to them. The nutrition label was ripped off when someone else ate it, so I won't risk it. I did feed it to them once before your reply and they didn't even go near it. Oh well
