Are organic baby foods safe for hermies?

It depends on their ingredients. Read the label to make sure they don't include something that's not recommended, like onion for example. You can check out the Unsafe and Unpopular List for more ideas on what may not be safe or liked.

I've been seeing a lot of snacks made for babies repackaged for sale for hermit crabs online which concerns me. I have a 2 year old who loves all these crunchy crackery bits, but they are not nutrient dense. They're mostly starch. Crabs eat so little that they really need high-density superfoods. So, even though they may not have ingredients that are harmful, there is still a need for caution.

I was thinking more along the lines of the baby food in jars. Just pureed fruits/veggies, not the stages for toddlers . But that's very good to know that some are being repackaged -definetly something to be aware of, thanks JediSena!

Yes, yes. I forget that they have whole lines of baby/toddler snack foods and quick meals. I assumed the OP meant the jars of fruits and veggies. Sorry for any confusion.

Oh no CalaLilly we're on the same page, I ment more in reply of Jedi. And totally realized I never replied to you before lol. Makes sense, as long as there's nothing unsafe its OK. I honestly wasn't even thinking about the snacks and such they have now, I was at Dollar Tree and saw a 2 pack of Gerber Organics green beans and was thinking that could be a good way to feed the crabs.

Oh, yeah, the jars of baby food are often available as ORGANIC, and the tiny amounts would make it a convenient and cheap source of crab food! Great idea!

I feed mine baby food on occasion. Only the ones that have a fruits/veggies/water listed as the ingredients though.
