I had some sand dollar & coral that I used from last year's beach trip. I boiled it first to make sure it was clean. Then ground it up real good with some cuttlebone. They love it!

Not really lol wasn't very tough to grind up. I know some people in here have a mortar/pestle, but I just used a rock from outside

Please be aware of beachcombing laws in your area before removing anything from the beach.

Also, all those shells on the beach help prevent erosion and are an important part of the ecosystem.

I've been awake for over 24 hours and need to sleep but I will post some links about conservation and such from coastal authorities.

Not trying to be a killjoy but if you think that hundreds of thousands of people remove things from the beach, you'll see how a few shells here and there per person adds up. .

Unfortunatly before i knew about any of this, all the kids collected them over time. They've just been sitting in a box for the longest time!! Better they not go to waste.
