Question about worms?

Post by The HermitIX » Wed Sep 11, 2019 7:24 pm

It seems like a lot of people feed mealworms for protein here. this seems like a pretty solid plan but i was wondering if there was any pros or cons to feeding them dried or fresh? bugs dont bother me at all so i was wondering if it would be better to just keep them live and cut them up when its feeding time.

Dried you can buy in bulk and store long-term in the freezer.

Live you have fresher meat but you have to keep it alive until feeding time. If you don’t want to cut them up, you can also offer live if they can’t escape the food dish.

Nutritionally, mealworms are primarily protein and fat, which will remain about the same whether fresh or dried and/or frozen, so I say just do whatever’s the cheapest or most convenient.
