Commercial Freeze Dried Foods?
I have a fairly small living space without consistent access to a fridge, and I'm often snowed in during the winter, so I can't often go out for fresh produce.
I'm considering freeze dried foods to offer my hermies. How much calcium should I mix in? What would work for protein? (So far I know my little guys really seem to hate Red Shrimp, and won't touch them.)
How do ya'll feel about these?

Thanks for your input everyone!
EDIT: looks like some of these are listed on this post, but the links appear to be broken, so I'm not 100% sure.

Those mixes look good, no additives or preservatives!
For calcium, you could get a cuttle bone, and just leave it in the tank for the crabs to munch on as they wish. Then give some egg shells or calcium powder with their food now and then.
For protein, you could look for a mix from an Etsy or one of the online sellers like Hermit Crab Patch (my crabs like the HCP 'wings and things' and 'surf and turf' combos).

Zilla has a omnivore mix with silkwormd and meal worms that is really nice for crabs. Flukers turtle treat medley without the pellets is also a hit, it has crickets, mealworms and shrimp. Any of the freeze-dried fish foods work well, too! Check the kids section of the grocery store for dried fruits, I've found them for as little as $1 a bag.

I tried freeze-dried fish before (a type of minnow, I think?), but they wouldn't even touch them! XD

Sometimes it takes a few tries before crabs will try or like something.

Mine really seem to like the Zilla vegetable mix! You can serve dry or mix it with water.

I have ask the question like this on one of my Forum post, and I have fantastic answers such as using single ingredient pet food, such as purebites. Since they don't have any preservatives or any extra additives, they are good for your crabs as a treat or so often.
I also have bought live crickets and mealworms so that I could feed them I crabs. I have been feeding them nutrient-dense Foods so that these guys well be great snacks for my crabs, but to be honest I have grown attached to them! I wanted to keep some as pets, but unfortunately when I froze them for about 5 when it's most of the crickets have died, but I digress. If you're looking for DIY food, and food that you can store for the long-term, then I suppose freezing your own Foods could work. Hope it helps!
