Mermaids purse

Post by Gleasoce » Sun Nov 27, 2022 9:45 pm

I found a mermaids purse on the beach while on a walk, all dried up after being left behind by the tide. I was wondering if it’s ok to feed to hermit crabs, or if they’d eat it at all. I know it’s an egg sac for either a skate or shark, not sure which but also… does it matter at all?

Thanks!

I wouldn't because I wouldn't want to risk it hurting the hermies, especially because it came from the ocean and hasn't been cleaned yet

Wild hermits would likely eat it because food is food, but it's bound to be really funky and rotten so I'm not sure it's the best option for a captive diet.
