scrambled eggs

Post by Guest » Fri Jul 21, 2006 6:16 am

I'd just like to say for anyone who hasn't fed this yet, you should try it. Frida (who I, once looking again, discovered really IS a female) eats that stuff like candy. It must be the favorite of what I've fed her so far. Of course I cook it without using any Pam or anything in the pan.

allow me: Break open egg in a bowl, I add a touch of water (not milk) and you get a fork or whisk and whip it all up....get your pan really hot n buttery (gee I want some now) and put egg in pan and you can run a fork thru while it cooks or just lightly stir it up....as it cooks..Now go make some and let me know how it went!

WAITER-------------- can I please get some

I'm trying hard boiled egg (cut up, of course ) today for the first time. I've tried cantaloupe, apples and bananas before this, to no avail. They still just like their "pre-packaged crab food" from the store, which I hear is awful.

I've only had them a week or so, so maybe they're getting used to the variety offered them. Something tells me they didn't get a lot of fresh things in the mall kiosk (yes...I know...I've learned so much about where to get crabbies just in the last week, thanks to this site).

I guess it's sort of like people choosing pork rinds over healthier things just because it's familiar to them.

You may think that they wont eat it but if that is all you offer for a week then they will change. I believe they put phermones in the commercial food that is why they get used to it. see the mfg knows it crap and they must trick the crab--anyway just keep at it- they wont starve themselves. :)

OH!

I'll have to try just offering fresh, then. I thought about it, but I didn't know if I should change their food right away. I was thinking I should wean them off the store food and slowly get them into fresh.

Are you saying I can just ditch the store food and go with all fresh and it won't stress anyone out?

I don't really eat eggs at all - I just buy them for the crabs now! I usually just get them in the six egg carton so they won't have time to spoil. I'll cook one and put the remains in the frig for a few days in a ziplock bag. Then I'll throw it away and cook another - I usually cook one per week.

I mix up half an egg with spirulina powder and shrimp meat, then I pour it into the pan with a bit of olive oil, flip it when the edgest start to curl, and take it off the heat when it's not runny anymore. It's my crab omelette, and the crabs love it. Good for them too. You could do the same thing and just keep stiring the egg in the pan if you prefer scrambled.

YES :D be sure to offer all the necessary nutrients, I still feed commercial as a back up but things that have the least preservatives...that is like once every 2 weeks. NarNar sells some really good stuff and if you PM me I can steer you other places--my crabs have been eating so well lately I have been very happy...I am finally getting swarms at my food dishes. :D
