Rehydrating Silversides

Post by MamaZelly » Tue Jul 15, 2008 3:09 pm

I'm about to give my little guys silversides for the first time, but they are harder than rock! Am I supposed to rehydrate these before I feed them, or do they like them this way??

I toss them in dry and they eat them just fine. In fact, they got a particularly large one last night and it was picking up little pieces if it when I got up this morning... They'll do just fine with it. lol

If you would still like to rehydrate one (or just decide to do it for experimentation), I would rehydrate it in saltwater or coconut milk. :)

Just one taker so far, and I accidentally scared him walking by the tank, so he didn't even have much of a chance! I'll know in the morning how popular it was. Our guys really don't start coming out until way after dark.

Never really watched them eating it that closely... lol

Um... Current condition of one fed last night: Head and tail still in dish... Rest? :dontknow: Everywhere but the dish?? lol To be honest, I rarely end up taking them out. They eat it and/or bury it before I can get to it. lol

lol! yea they are a bit raunchy either way you smell em.

Raen, when I dehydrate I share the pleasure with my neighbors  I open up the apartment and set the aroma free! lol! Bf walked in one day and almost threw up lol...but once you get "use to" the smell when they are dehydrating you dont really smell it anymore. *shrugs* Its just the initial start of them dehydrating that is bad...same with shrimp and fish...

Mine prefer the eyes and the gut as well..mmm...good stuff with all those organs! Lots of vitamins and nutrients!

They weren't crazy about the rehydrated ones, but they like the dry ones just fine. They went for the gut, too.
