Whole foods fun and a few questions :)
Just went to whole foods to get some food since it was recommended. I bought celery root (86 cents), sugar cane (30 cents), and from the bulk section (between half a cup to a cup each) corn meal (11 cents), flax seeds (12 cents), coconut shreded (11 cents).
I was wondering what kind of roots are okay for hermies? I've read that many people's hermis loooove roots.
Also, I saw the Spirunila (sp?) at whole foods. There was tablets and powder. is one better? I couldn't tell which had more because they were in diff. units and the powder was like $25. What brand do you guys buy and where (online or store)?
Looking at the velery root, I'm wondering how to cut it or prepare it for them... as well as the suger cane! Any advice would be awesome, thanks!

oh, thanks, I thought powder would have been better, too, and I was surprised at the price!Mama Crabs wrote:Hmm not sure about the roots.
I would get the powder spirunila, never head about the tablet form, I would be concerned about stuff added to that. $25 is a lot! I bought a small bag from The crab addition store for very cheap. I would shop around more first.
I actually found Spirulina Brine Shrimp (freeze dried) at Petsmart, so I grabbed that! It is by Hikari and it said no preservatives, artificial flavors, and free of pesticides. I have yet to try it with them yet.

Sweet! Mine still are not eating a lot, but I hope they like it when their appetites come around! I've had them for a little over two weeks and so far I know they munch on hermit food I got before I learned about other foods, honey nut cheerios, some sort of chex cereal (corn or rice), corn meal, and I think they have eaten some cuttle bone. oh, yeah, and two cooked kernels of corn! it's been really hard to see what they actually eat, if it's gone or moved, than I know
