Jello is just natural collagen from bones and things. It's not pleasant to think about but it is totally natural. (And really a good thing because bits that would be tossed are being used for another purpose.) Plain unsweetened and unflavored gelatin would not hurt the crabs.
However, crabs don't need natural sugars straight up like that. Fruit does contain sugar but t's in conjunction with heaps of fiber, which is important.

Has anyone here ever boiled/baked a whole chicken or boiled any kind of meat bones for soup? The "jelly-like" substance left in the pan is collagen from the bones, joints, and skin. It's got to be organic and hopefully free-range for the crabbies.
If you don't cook, you can use Knox unflavoured gelatin...but I don't think it's organic or free-range:
