Best seaweeds?

Post by Hermitcrablover12 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 10:36 am

I recently brought home all these thypes of seaweed

Irish Moss (Chondrus crispus)

Nori (Porphyra sp.)

Wakame (Undaria Pinnatifida)

Dulse/Dillisk (Palmaria palmata, Rhodymenia palmata)

Green Seaweed (Ulva lactuca)

Mojaban (Sargassum fulvellum)

Gracilaria parvispora (It looks and feels so fake 0-e)

Bladderwrack (Gracilaria changgi or Fucus vesiculosis)

Which ones are best? I have them in my freezer and I'm going to boil them for the crabbies. Will they actually EAT them? My crabs are very picky with seaweed. I also have this weird pink, thin seaweed. Its just like a flat sheet of slime. 0-e What is it?

Great find! They should love them. I have used nori, dulse, irish moss and green seaweed. They were dried,I have never given fresh.Might stink up the tank, let us know how it goes.

Where did you find the fresh seaweed? I am thinking of boiling some of the dried and giving to the crabs.Have you tried dried?

Off of a private beach in Massachusetts. So many kinds here! I was thinking of trying it dried.
