MY FLAXSEED SPROUTED!

Post by hthecvt » Mon Mar 30, 2015 9:56 pm

I printed some flaxseed into my tat a week ago and there's a few sprouts!

Image

First off, they are adorable.

Secondly, the ones that didn't sprout, those are okay to leave? Like, they won't rot or mold it anything? Cuz there's no way I could find them all. :/

They will be fine. They'll either rot and decompose or mold and show you where they are for cleaning.
Lil sprouts are sooo cuuuuute!

Woohoooo!!!!
Yes, I've got a serious case of spring fever. Bring it on!
They sprouted quickly! I MUST get some seeds, pronto...love the most natural environment possible. Makes more fresh air, too. :)

The downside is that crabs LOVE knocking sprouts over. Then they lay on their side with suggestively wilted faces, seeming to cry "heeeelp meeee" and it just pains me to see the poor lil srouts like that. Some cut in half. Others strewn about. Mostly just sat upon, humiliated by heavy crab bottoms. It was very bittersweet for me to clean up my pitiful chia sprouts, as i mournfully remembered the first time they'd sprouted in my tray of eggshell halves. In 2 nights they were all reduced to tattered scenes of sprout brutality.

Try sprouting the flaxseeds, and let the flax grow before planting
it in the enclosure. :D

Its so nice to see things growing in their tat - are they just knocking them over like little tanks or have they tried eating them all?

I don't think they've been eating them. Just sad broken spouts everywhere. :(

I love the idea though I want to try it now! And someone said maybe let them grow a little first outside the tat to get stronger then transplant might be a good idea too. I put leaf lettuce in my tat one summer (they were about 6 inches tall) and the hermies loved munching on them. The plants looked pretty cool at first - but they got all tattery and beaten up after awhile. BUT it was fun to watch for a while.
