So here's an obscure question I haven't seen. Has anyone ever checked out what the "average" amount of a hermit crabs day is spent eating? I would imagine it varies greatly from meal to meal, though, which would make any kind of timing awkward / maybe impossible.
I was just a little curious because I have my IP camera up on my second monitor all day while I'm at work (advantage of working with computers), and I noticed the middle-weight of the bunch who is the must active during the day has been in the dishes for the last hour and a half eating peanut butter and oyster. Pinch, eat, pinch, eat... you could calibrate a metronome by him. Guess he could be gearing up to molt. He's been with me a month, and has started digging little holes all over.

Re: Time spent eating
It definitely sounds like pre-molt behavior!
