Are these safe?

Post by aparksy » Tue Jul 28, 2015 4:19 pm

I see a lot of people growing flax seed in their crabitat, but can anyone tell me if these "seed bombs" are safe?

So it's just basil and dill? Basil is on the safe list. Dill is on the unsafe though I'm not clear on why - most things there are guesses based on what the crabs ignore and/or things that are toxic to other animals (though not always the crabs).

Basil is safe, yes. I'm not sure about dill. I know it is on the unsafe list, I'm just not sure why.

What is the bomb made of? Clay? Soil? So long as that is organic- not just the seeds- and so long as there are no fertilizers, it should be okay.

Dill is wide, tan colored and like paper. Basil is small and black.

I was thinking it was just a seed mix. I'm not sure about the clay. Maybe sprout them outside of the tank first? Assuming whatever the clay stuff is is safe.
