It's really not hard to make your own food. Use Kili's guide to make sure you've got all the food groups for them, and then start mixing! We've got safe food lists that can tell you what they can have. (They're both stickies here in the Food section. If you're on tapatalk let me know and I'll give you the links here.) The harder part is sourcing safe ingredients since ideally you want to stay away from pesticides and fertilizers. Organic fresh produce can be found at most grocery stores these days. Whole Foods, Trader Joes and other health food places often have different dried organic items. Protein can be found in the fish and reptile section of the pet store and you can mix and match those to make meals easier. :) Some of us who make food grow our own so we know it's safe, but others purchase and dry it themselves. A good dehydrator is necessary for really getting into it, but you can get around it by buying dry to start or freezing instead.

I've used a coffee grinder in the past when I've wanted to grind things up but it's really not necessary. They'll have no problems breaking off tiny pieces to eat from larger ones.

Depends you'll have to experiment. Dried red pepper and carrots and peanut butter.

So, which dry hermit mixes were your crabs favourites and which did they hate?

My crab loves cucumber and honey... Also greens, like arugula and spinach. Crabinski has a recipe he for dry crab food he uses:
