Today is trial day!

2 DISHES, 7 CRABS, what will happen next?
I made a regular meal with some new foods, like watermelon, mealies, and other crabby things.
Next dish, crab cookies and "milk". I made a cookie with some potatoe flour and honey as well as raisins and drizzle coconut milk ontop. Huge hit! I added some bananas that were minced ontop for some nice twist.
Current hermits: About 17 PPs and 3 straws (for now)
A 180-ish gallon tank with two 36 gallon extenstions!
What can I say? I love crabs!

Harvested some goodies recently so in my crabs food dish is:

Rose petals, honeysuckle, clover, maple leaves, and wild strawberry. Also added dried cranberries, raisins, coconut, almonds, and mealworms. Cuttlebone available on the side as usual.

They've really chowed down. It's been a while since they've had the flowers and leaves though. I dried a bunch for later too. :)

I just tried a mash made from egg yolk, ground up grasshoppers, and a dried flower petals. It stank to high heaven when I took it out this morning but I don't think they ate much.

I also like to give them a home made play dough every so often:

Peanut butter (organic)
honey (organic)
ground up bugs

Sometimes they eat it but other times they don't.
Currently the caretaker for:
Six hermies in 37G bow front, and two more in a ten-gallon tank.

I build websites, and blog about ebooks.

Hi all! I'm new to crabbin' but I've tried giving my hermies fresh cherries, carrots, lettuce and nuts with no success. How long should I leave the food in their crabitat? I usually leave it for like 24 hrs. but they don't touch it. Am I doing something wrong? What's something PPs love??

24 hours is good. I leave a dried mix in that I have for them for up to 3 days. I leave about a tsp of food per a crab, or depending on size, maybe a grape per 5 crabs or 3 pieces of food per every so many crabs. Mine LOVE almonds, unsweeted DRIED coconut, freeze dried mealworms, and dried bananas. Roses and most crab safe flowers are popular as well. Doing nothing wrong (but add more meat to their diet).

For a good food, look at what I'm feeding today:

A table spoon of dried coconut, a couple freeze dried mealworms, a dish of sprulina flakes, rose petals and some bananas. Good enough for 14-ish crabs! I also have a dish of calcium for them (Eggshells, lobster exo and crushed sea urchin)

when i juiced this morning i save the pulp or garbage that blends together apple, redbeet, carrots, celery, kale, apricot, cherries /with canned crickets , and clownfish eggs on top. the goey plate ( simple tonight) coconut oil with dried coconut shavings ,and crushed walnuts. the eggs are special treat from "rods" it goes in the freezer. for me i leave the dry mix(hcp blends) in for 2 days. my fresh food bowl and goey i put in around 4:ooafternoon and take out when i pass the tat the next morning. i have better luck with them eating when the plates are in the back and shadowed over with foilage or something@"

Tonight will be a special night for my hermies; it's dead stock night!

dead stock (crickets from the cricket keeper for Charlotte that didn't survive), rolled oats, twice cooked rice (normally drives them nuts), honey, and some cuttle bone on the side. They really enjoy "dead stock" night!
