My mom just finished tending her garden and was about to throw away a bunch of beautiful immature carrot sprouts with huge tops. I had a crabbers moment where I shouted at her before she threw them away stuck them in the freezer for later ;)

Fireweed leaves, Rose leaves, Crabapple leaves, Mealworms and THCG's Sweet Star cookie pieces(about 1/4 of a cookie). They are all over those cookie pieces and it is fun watching them hunt down mealworms! Although, they seem to have liked the wax worms better (I used to have to keep tossing more in :D ).

Wax worms are super high in fat ;) they are called big macs for chameleons and gecko crack for well geckos  I never thought to put live bugs in ... Hmmm that would be fun to watch. But do they dig down? Tonight is shrimp with berries and peas topped with coconut and the ever present cuttle bone, crushed oyster shells and egg shell with honey. The only crab left on the surface is Kim who is just itty bitty but she finished off last night's honey all to herself

I usually put in one for every three crabs on the surface and add as they go. The bugs barely get anywhere before the crabs catch them :) Iv'e only given them wax worms once and plan to do it as a treat, they had them when I got new crabs in as a "welcome home, you must be starving" type thing lol.

I put live mealworms and waxworms in a dish they can't get out of but of course the crabs can get in. ;)

I pass the horn worms (the neon green ones) every time I go for crickets for my repti crew and none of my lizards are big enough to eat them. I checked the safe list for them but has anyone ever tried them and how did they go over?

Hi I'm new here but one of my favorite things is coming up with new recipes for my crabby friends :)
I found a store that said they could order me a strawberry (it's coming next thursday!) so I came up with a pre molt mix espeically for strawberries or other colorful crabs with extra beta carotene. This recipe blew up on tumblr all the crab parents of tumblr are going crazy over it. I just made it with the stuff I had lying around since I didn't feed like going out to get anything special lol

Freeze dried crickets
Freeze dried mysis shrimp
Calcium powder
Dried seaweed
Raw carrot
Raw spinach
Fiber cereal
Splash of olive oil
Grind it all up

None of my guys are in pre molt stage right now so I'm going to offer it to my new strawberry when he comes home in case he has to molt.

The food for our crabbies seems subpar now -___- Tonight they have freeze dried shrimp, bloodworms, fresh mango and fresh grapes split up over 3 bowls. We also have coconut, organic peanut butter, carrots, organic baby spinach apples and sliced almonds but those aren't in the crabitat tonight.
