I just made a neverending supply of fruit/nut/veggie salad last night. A little bit at a time will be thawed and the rest frozen for future use. But here's the recipe for those who want it:
mini bananas (yes, chiquita has mini 4" banana bunches)
golden delicious apple
strawberries
blueberries
almond slivers
mango chunks on the peel
red & green bell pepper (already chopped up in a container at wal-mart)
I store the peppers separate from the fruit and just add it into the food bowl when I serve it. Then I just sprinkle baby shrimp on top of the mix and let them eat. I put it for the first time this morning and I had no sooner turned away and the bowl was flooded with crabs. I saw one of my violas grab a huge hunk of strawberry and scurry backwards so he didn't have to share lol. We'll see how much is left when I get home and how much they've dragged everywhere in the tank lol.

I understand your vegetarian views. My future MIL is a vegetarian. However, your crabs are not. They need the proteins from meats, not just nuts. They are scavengers, so they naturally get this in the wild. However, I hate dealing with raw meat and cooking only tiny portions, which is why I offer mine freeze dried baby shrimp. I sometimes substitute freeze dried krill instead, but that has gotten more expensive. But the shrimp is good for coloring, protein, and the shells help with molts.

I gave them salmon and sweet potato in one dish, and in another, barley, coconut, and corn meal.
Since my crabbies are coconut addicts they all surrounded the shell full of the barley-coconut-corn meal mix. At first my big boy Leif was sitting in it, blocking everyone else access, but then he decided to be nice and eat from a more polite position.

I've got a zoo in my house. I should charge admission.
