You've gotta lead with he was fine btw. Lol.
Thanks! I tried spirulina. No interest as far as I could see. Doesn't seem like they like freeze dried crickets. I even had my husband crush a couple. Nope. Even drizzled honey on the crickets. Nope. At least one does like hard boiled egg. And plain honey. I'm waiting for my first shipment from hermie's kitchen. Oh, and they never seem to eat the cuttlebone.hayhay528 wrote:i used to think mine didnt eat either and by now i think it has a lot of do with the crab's personality. for isntance my E, and two of my more active purple pinchers will often be eating at the dish when i check on them. the other 3, which are much shyer and sensitive to me watching, i rarely ever see eat.
mine go crazy for cuttlebone, dried mangos, dehydrated chicken, dried insects, coconut oil and honey, dried mangos, peanut butter, kombu(dried seaweed) and apples. i got some free polenta at work and gave it to them the other night and caught two of them in the food dish (success!!!).
and by the way, when i say they go crazy for it it means they pull it out of the food dish, lol, still most of it is uneaten when i replace it. (i have 6 small/medium crabs so people with larger crabs may actually have empty food dishes sometimes)
last night i got a emptied out dungeness crab shell from work(still had a few pieces of organ meat in it) and gave them a piece and they appeared to love that too
i think the most important thing is to continue to offer their favorites a few times a week but also always add new foods. i read a posting on here that talked about how crabs dont like to eat the same thing again and again, as in, if you gave it to them within the last 6 hours, no matter how much they love the food, they wont be interested. so adding in bits and pieces from what you eat, as long as its organic and unproccessed, is a really easy way to find out what they like as well as giving them a variety of vitamins and minerals.
