I just have to say, I went through every single post here. Took me three days with being at work, but was awesome and gave me so many ideas for when I get my hermies! I had already set egg shells from my breakfast to dry and was crushing some peanuts for a pasta dish, so did some more with some walnuts, and the egg shells. Bagged them up for when they get here!

Freeze it up! I like freezing in plastic baggies or trays in a thin layer, so i can break stuff up like brittle and store frozen. Easier to feed just pinches of each food that way!

OK the pinkie mouse is disgusting. But...if someone creative figured how to freeze dry them and grind into powder I'm game! Imagine; "tonight we are serving carrots with a dusting of mouse".

I recently got the Repashy Beach Buffet that you can make into a gel. This is going first, last night I actually had to refill it before bed. I have ordered their Shrimp Souffle and can't wait to try that as well.

Today everybody got a chopped salad that included:

mixed spring greens
boiled egg
apple bits
shredded carrot
strawberry
peanut butter & honey "dressing"

They also got a "soup" of Christa Wilkins homemade mix. I normally give this powder to them dry but they really liked it with some water added. This recipe can be found here: http://www.hermit-crabs.com/food.html
10 PP's, 1 Short-tailed opossum, 2 Egyptian spiny mice, 6 Axolotls, 5 fire belly newts & 1 dog.

Today I made my hermit crabs,
mashed beans and honey with cuttlebone.

I've never chimed in on here, but I'm quite proud of tonight's meal!

Image

We have boiled shrimp tails and partial exos with broccoli bits and leaf, some cucumber, brown rice, and a raspberry, all sprinkled with egg shell I boiled this morning. And of course the usual earthworm castings and mineral supplements from The Hermit Crab Patch. Most of this came from setting pieces aside from my own dinner as I went about making it. For once they aren't eating BETTER than me!

I am new here. And I am wondering. Do you cook the veggies Or give them to the hermits raw.

Both are fine but if cooked no seasoning can be used. :)

Mine were just raw organic and rinsed well with dcl FW. (: I just set bits aside as I chop for my food and boiled the shrimp tails in my pasta water before making my pasta.

Awful picture from my cell phone, but I wanted to take a picture & didn't have time to upload from the camera. Tonight's meal is a squid cube, canned river shrimp, peaches, the green veg mix (peas, broccoli, corn, dandelion greens, cilantro), and honey drizzled over everything (but mostly over the fruit/veg).

So far no one's paid much attention to the fresh food bowl yet. The dry food bowl has oak twigs, oak leaves, and a little crabby cake from an online order. The supplements bowl has calcium, dry powdered seaweed, and earthworm castings. So far the one little guy still above ground has been enjoying the oak leaves and the little cake thing. I think he may have been into the supplement bowl too, but it's hard to tell!

River shrimp, spurilina popcorn, and Canadian Crab Connection's Everything Mix in the dry bowl. Dandelion greens drizzled with organic peanut butter and organic honey in the other. There's also a bowl with just worm castings in the tat.
