pale pale pale

after a check up on my hermit crabs I knowticed flower my eldery hermitcrab is very pale and ghostly white with some sluggish behaivor I'm very concerned about his health is there any thing speical I can buy him at the grocery store to eat to help restore his color and maby perk him up a litte? I know hes probably missing some nutrients Im just not sure wich ones I dont want to order online so I can get it to him sooner fruits? veggies? meats? grains?

Some crabbies are just naturally pale, but if you want to boost color you can try things high in beta carotene - carrots, red peppers, dark leafy vegetables, stuff like that are all high in it. Honey and peanut butter are good high energy foods.

One of my PPs, Felix, was a pale salmon when I got him 6+ years ago and has gradually lost color over the ensuing years. He eats the same foods as the other PPs (who are all deep oranges and dark reds) and has healthy molts but just gets paler and paler. Before he went down in mid-November, he was almost a light lilac but, when he came up on Christmas, he was lighter still, almost a grayish-white. He's always been the most outgoing and active crab so I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with him -- maybe he's just going through a David Bowie Thin White Duke phase .
