I've been trying to keep myself occupied with various crabby projects to help keep myself (and my anxiety) distracted from waiting for my babies to come back up. I haven't seen any sign of the two since I brought them home four weeks ago, and I haven't seen the third one for a week or so.

I know it's pretty normal, and I'm trying not to freak myself out, but I'm just so anxious over not being able to see them & know they're not dead.
But anyway, I love feeding animals and making animal food, so that's going to be one of my projects this week!

I just placed a big order from Mountain Rose Herbs last night, for a bunch of things that would be great to add to my growing food collection. I got borage and elderberry flowers, alfalfa leaf, birch bark, blackberry leaf, chickweed, nettle leaf, plantain leaf, bladderwrack powder, dulse powder, kelp powder, sea lettuce flakes, wakame, hibiscus flower powder, barley grass powder, beet root powder, celery seed, hulled hemp seed, Irish moss powder, and dandelion root. 4oz of most things, and 8oz of a couple things that I plan to use in more than one mix. I plan on doing a few different flower & leaf mixes so I can rotate them, a dried seaweed mix to leave in all or most of the time, and then some of the stuff is for my dried meal mix I'm planning to make. I also got a bunch of 4oz storage tins, which I'm pleased about! They look really nice, and it'll be easier than having a ton of little baggies everywhere.

A couple of the things I wanted were out of stock, but I can do without them for now (especially since I'm not even sure my guys will be eating any of this food for right now anyway), and I'll just place another order...which will be dangerous for my bank account.
Besides that order, I'm planning to go to a local farmer's-market-type store that always has tons of fruit and veggies. My shopping list for that store includes broccoli, carrots, dried corn, dried peas, yellow squash, blueberries, raspberries, mango, coconut, jicama, pineapple, parsley, basil, chard, mango, papaya, 10-grain cereal, various beans, and I want to see what kind of seafood they carry. A lot of the stuff is for the dried meal mix, but some of it (the papaya, jicama, pineapple, & beans) are extra things that I plan to freeze half of & dry the other half. The beans I'm probably just going to crush into a chopped dry bean mix for a plant protein option. I have a lot of free time off work this week, so I'm hoping to get the wet food all dried over the week so I can make my meal mix. I already have most of the freeze-dried proteins that will go into the mix, and some of the grains.
I'll try to share some pictures & such of everything once it's done!
(Unrelated to crabbies, but I'm also excited because my friend & I plan to get some stuff to make into a healthy duck/geese food mix for feeding the waterfowl at the river near us.

I work in wildlife rehab & know it's best not to feed waterfowl, but LOTS of people feed them anyway - and frequently feed bread, which isn't good for them.

Since there are lots of babies right now, we thought it'd be nice if we could make up healthy food & go down to feed everyone a few times a week to hopefully help a little. There are already numerous ducks down there with "angel wing", which is caused by malnutrition, so we don't want more babies to end up with the issue.)
