Hello crab experts,
I keep seeing oak leaves mentioned as a food source, but few details. Any particular species? Is pin oak OK?
Should they be fresh leaves or old dried leaves?
Thank you. I'm still figuring this stuff out.

Re: Oak leaves
It doesn't matter if it's on the safe foods list, (posted the food section stickies), just make sure you are collecting from a pesticide free zone and you should be good.

Re: Oak leaves
We're surrounded by live oak so that's what I use. I collect both green and brown leaves but I put everything in the oven to kill bugs, so they all wind up crispy! Our guys love oak bark, I found out when I realized the stick we had put in for climbing was stripped over the first couple of weeks!

Re: Oak leaves
Rawrgeous pretty much covered it. They love oak leaves. Isopods do too.
