As long as it's organic and doesn't contain any weird preservatives you should be ok.

I personally would not. None of it says organic. The honey comb is raw, but not organic. You need raw and organic. You can eat it :) It's yummy!

Edit: We had this huge discussion on the whole Natural vs Organic last month. It's a whole big gimmick. I'll try to locate the post and send you the link http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/ ... 7#p1023527

I don't see anything wrong with them. I'll be completely honest, my crabs don't eat 100 percent organic. They do only get foods with singular ingredients, and those don't have any additives or preservatives. I truly believe that a varied diet is much more important than a wholly organic diet. If I am giving something that isn't organic I simply make sure they don't get peels, and to wash whatever it is thoroughly. I say go for it. That being said, we all have different care methods- so choose what is right for you. I say, though. If it's on the accepted foods list, it's probably fine. I know for a fact several of the veteran crabbers that had their crabs for several years didn't feed soley organic food- you just have to be careful. I'm suspicious that even some of the crab food I buy from online stores is not ALL organic anyways. :)

I agree 100%. I decided to give them the treats earlier and they were pigging out for a few hours. I doubt it'd do any harm and let them have it. (: thank you for your response!

Ditto, I do the same as Rawrgeous (trim off peels, skins, rinds and feed the inner parts). If I spend money on organic it's for my family, but I save all the scraps and either freeze or dehydrate them. For instance I buy organic strawberries (they're on the worst list for pesticides and you can't peel them), we eat the berries and the tops are a favorite with the crabs, they love the leaves.

Treats?

There are a few things that I am a stickler about being organic on. Honey and strawberries are two of them. Having an organic garden myself, I see how bad the strawberries get attacked. My strawberries never look as beautiful as the stores~ it's because of the pesticides. To each's own!

I'm jelly. haha I'd definitely give them wholly organic if I had a garden...but being nocturnal makes gardening slightly more difficult. lol I do give them mostly organic, and it is preferable just in case. But I don't feel like that is going to make or break their habitat if it is limited quantities and it's not all they eat. For me, I feed organic when I can, and when I can't I just am careful. :)

I totally understand! But when it comes to certain foods that are prone to bugs~ try to stick to organic when you don't know the source . I used to be nocturnal ~ I just can't live that lifestyle anymore ~ lol!
