Hi. So i've had my largest hermit since last summer, when i got him he was eating soley pellet food. Now that i know more i started giving him fresh foods about two or three months after i got him. I've noticed a theme though, he only really seems to enjoy apple even though i offer a variety. And it is the same with my small crabs even though they are newer. Is it normal to only want to eat one thing?

He will occasionally pick at something else (Watermelon and egg) but when he does it is VERY rarely. i know they eat at night but i can tell what they eat and don't because they all drag it off of the dish to eat

Hi!

Try offering a variety of dried foods instead if your guys are picky with their fresh foods. My crabs aren't big fans of fresh foods, but love their different dried foods. The only fresh things they eat without issue are eggs and various greens/lettuces. They will pick at ground beef or turkey on occasion. I've offered many fresh fruits over the years and they will always go untouched.

Some dried foods my guys love: Mealworms, quinoa, amaranth seeds, various nuts, FMR Hermit Crab Treat, Pure Bites dried chicken/salmon/shrimp, plain popcorn, crab exoskeleton, Zilla fruit mix, flaked coconut, daphnia, bloodworms, worm castings, various leaves, bee pollen, and greensand.
