Crab has taken a liking to bran flakes

As an experiment I threw in a couple of small pieces of bran from raisin bran cereal into my tank. My smallest crab (Who I'm currently nicknaming Bean) consumed quite one of the larger chunks. I assume its safe since its not super sweet and doesn't appear to be in any dangerous plant families. They got some dried bloodworms, coconut oil and a couple of fruit scraps right now as well in a shell dish.

I'm just amazed that the bran flake was well received. Anyone else have crabs with odd tastes in food?

It's probably not the ideal food given there's probably additives and preservatives in the ingredients list for the cereal.

I'm new to proper hermit crab keeping, but my hermies are like my kids. I've offered them a bunch of stuff and the only thing I've seen them gobble is honey and popcorn. LOL

I wouldn't feed cereal as a staple, but a little now and then would be fine I would imagine. They also like Cheerios as a treat.

I give my guys plain Cheerios as a treat every couple of weeks. They seem to enjoy them.

It's pretty basic, and no preservatives. Definitely won't hurt them as a treat.
