Definitely yes to banana flowers and purple yam.
Taro leaves would be fine when cooked. I think for hermits they would likely be fine raw as well as the oxalate that make them poisonous to humans (really a physical irritation) shouldn't bother them, but there hasn't been any specific studies on the effects.
