We have a pretty simple beef stew recipe that we (hoomans) eat regularly. I'd like to be able to give some to the crabs. Ingredients are just carrot, potato, beef, celery, onion (which I have chosen to feed), salt&pepper (ditto) and a can of tomato sauce.
The brand of organic canned tomato sauce we use should be safe, but there's one thing in the ingredient list I'm not sure about. The last ingredient listed is 'organic spice.' Since it's not specified what that might entail, I haven't given it to them. Any thoughts? Is there any reason it should be unsafe?

Re: "spice"?
I hate it when they do that. I don’t know enough tomato sauce to know what spices would be in there either.
We do have bay leaves and rosemary on our unpopular and unsafe list. I don’t think bay is something you see in Italian cooking but you never know. Rosemary maybe. I don’t think either one would be in amounts high enough to matter but it depends on your comfort level
