Kelp meal? Crab/lobster shell meal?
Kelp meal? Crab/lobster shell meal?
Would these be good supplements similar to green sand? It looks like they are one ingredient “fertilizers”. I’m guessing the crab/lobster shells are byproducts of food industry so wouldn’t contain any Xanthidaes species. Although could this contain any sort of transmittable diseases still? I’m thinking it would provide another variety of calcium source other than cuttlebone or eggshell. And the kelp would be easier to supply in small quantities as a powder vs buying larger pieces. I know they sell kelp powder for food supplements as well. I don’t know if there’s some non-safe kelp species? The fertilizer I’m looking at is Ascophyllum Nodosum which is also sold as human food. So I’m not sure what the difference is between their “meal” other than maybe it’s larger pieces vs powdered as it’s listed as one ingredient.
