Locust shells safe?

Post by Guest » Tue Aug 15, 2006 4:54 pm

We have some locusts coming up and they leave their exos behind everywhere. Are these safe to feed to the crabs. I live out in the country and we do not use pesticides.

I live out in the country also and feed locust exo and Jedediah gave me the ok when I asked.

Tuesday night my cats caught a locust and killed it in the house. I put the bodyof the locust whole in the tank and when I peeked at them in the early morning there was 3 hermits sampling it.

If you can be sure that they haven't come into contact with pesticides, then locusts as well as their exo are a great food.
Giving them protein once a month is way too little IMO I try to offer them a protein source at every feeding.
