I was wondering if sugar is okay for crabs. Sugar is in fruits, and they can eat fruits. It might be a different kind, though, that is in fruits. What kind is in fruits?
Also, I've been feeding my hermit crabs trail mix for a while now, and nothing is happening.
Is it safe to feed crabs with stuff with sugar? Are certain types of sugar safe?
Sugar?

no, it is not good for them unless it is pure cane sugar from the cane. otherwise it is processed and has had preservatives and other additives put it in. it would probably not kill your hermie from eating it, but it is dangerous to do so, there could be long-term effects. would you really want to risk your crab's health on it?

Some good, pure sugar would be fine---pure unprocessed cane sugar, maple sugar, and honey are all just fine, whether in liquid (is honey really liquid? You know what I mean) or crystallized form, as an occasional treat. BUT, most sugar we use is very processed, and this isn't good for the hermies. It isn't good for us, either, LOL, but we're bigger so it won't affect us as quickly. So I would say that most foods listing sugar on the ingredient list are out, as it's most likely processed sugar.
