I just ordered and recieved some calcium blocks I ordered from seashell city because I saw them in the hermit crab section and saw that they are pre flavored ( I can be lazy some times )
I was wondering if this is safe and if so how do I give it to my crabs?
at the moment I kinda tied it to a piece of choya wood and left it for them to graze at their own desire but I didnt know if this would cause it to spoil or if getting wet might hurt it or any number of things.

Please let me know what you think?

Thanks

I don't THINK they should mold. I have never used a calcium block, but I have put chunks of cuttlebone in the tank, and it never molded. If you want to flavor your crabs' calcium sorce, try grinding the cuttlebone in a small food processor or nut grinder, then add some crushed, dried rose petals or shitake mushrooms. Both have a distinct smell & taste. You can store this mixture in a babyfood jar.

I personally don't flavor my cuttlebone. I add cuttlebone to their daily kibble, and put an additional little bit into their food dish. They will eat the cuttlebone without any flavoring just fine. :)

okay thank you ... I will leave the calcium block tied to my wood since it had metal twist ties on the back of the block

I hope the babies like it ^.^
