I can't see any reason to give hermit crabs a supplement as long as they have a balanced diet.

supplements of minerals are very important. calcium supplements are very important. full spectrum lighting helps fresh foods give the crabs the full benefits of the vitamins in them. So i wouldnt say supplements are not needed. I just dont like to compare hermit crabs to lizards or scorpions or any other pets that are not decapods. They are also getting supplements in the salt water when they are getting the marine grade salt water. I dont know what is in the lizard vitamins? It might just be ground cuttlebone or bone meal for calcium? Best bet is to leave it for the lizards..

I told him that I thought the salt water, but that if they wanted the 100% pure calcium supplement for reptiles would be ok. The one without D3 that is just calcium.

D3 might be calcium with sea iodine

in sea salt they get :
Sodium cloride
magnesium
calcium
potassium
iron
phosphates
plant nutrients
nitrates

just to name the main things that come to mind:
some of the stuff in the lizard vitamins i can id right off but some id have to look up and id say leave them to the lizards for now.. if its not broke dont fix it...lol.. i have so much studies to do that i can go astray right now. I have some issues with my eye right now that are holding me back or id look into it all . when i get caught up if i remember ill go back to it.
