Humidity help asap
Guys im new to this crab thing but i love my little guys and i need help. I cannot figure out how to keep the humidity up. Im using a mister and was using plastic wrap to no avail, i could never get the dial to the good area on the hygrometer. Im now using 2 heat sources and with only the side one it wasnt warm enough. Now with that and top the thermometer is reading in the red. I want everything to be ideal please help. I took photos but i cant figure out how to post them here.

I use zoomed terrarium moss (has a frog on the box). There is a sticky in crab care telling which is safe and not safe (sorry don't know how to post links)
Basically, you'll want sphagnum moss, frog/terrarium moss, beaked moss, or Spanish moss... Don't use anything from crafting section or dollar stores. Also try to get natural and avoid dyes and pesticides.... Moss sold at pet stores are safe in general.
You'll want to put it in a corner caddy or container of some sort. The crabs love to bury in it and munch on it.
Also want to mention gauges. If you have analog (dial looking) they're often inaccurate. You'll want to get a digital. Most of us use AcuRite (Wal-Mart or hardware store under $10)

Hello! I would recommend the digital hygrometer first. Analogs are not accurate. I would want to be safe though, because hermit crabs need the humidity to breathe. You can also put air stones in your water bowls (many of us crabbers refer to them as bubblers). That can help boost humidity.

Re: Humidity help asap
I have wicked dry air in my apartment, so I feel you. It can be challenging, but once you know what works for your tank, it'll be easier to maintain.
Short term, if you have anything like a crocheted jute climbing net or coir climbing back round, like with the moss pit, it will be helpful if you mist it down every day.
In case it wasn't mentioned, bubblers are made by running a small aquarium air pump, connected to the aforementioned airstone in your water pool. In dry climes, a deeper water pool will make this more effective.
Be careful not to add too much water to the sub while trying to raise the humidity... you don't want a flood in the bottom of your tank, for sure.
